NHS 111 Service
NHS Out of Hours Service provides medical care or advice when the surgery is closed. Fully trained advisers will assess your symptoms and direct you to the most appropriate local service. This can include an out-of-hours doctor, walk-in centre, urgent care centre, emergency dentist or late opening chemist. For life threatening emergencies, continue to call 999.

All partners are happy to provide antenatal services in conjunction with the community team of midwives.

Please ask at reception for details. These appointments are available with the practice nurse, in conjunction with a female doctor, and incorporate all aspects of women’s health issues:- smears, pill checks, coil fitting and contraception advice, HRT and menopause advice, dietary advice.
Your own doctor can perform certain surgical procedures here at the surgery. Your doctor will arrange these appointments.
We also provide specialist care for patients with heart disease, hypertension, stroke, COPD, epilepsy, cancer, hypothyroidism and mental health problems. Please ask at reception for details.
This very important screening test is carried out by the practice nurses and only takes a few minutes. All ladies between the ages of 25 and 64 years of age are advised to have regular tests. This simple test can help in the early detection and treatment of disease.
This service is not just about contraception but is about how people look after themselves during their reproductive years, including pre-conception and during and after the menopause. A full range of services is provided including advice regarding modern family planning techniques.
We have a wide range of counselling services available. Appointments are made by referral from your doctor.
If you have any worries or queries about children’s vaccinations, please feel free to discuss them with your doctor, practice nurse or health visitor. We strongly recommend that all babies and children are fully immunised. All staff including nurses have been fully trained in immunisation procedures.
Please ask at reception for a travel vaccination form which must be completed and handed in at least eight weeks in advance of your holiday. This information will be passed to one of our practice nurses to process, you will then be contacted to arrange a suitable appointment. A charge may be made for certain immunisations which are not covered by the NHS. Please ask at reception for details.
An annual flu vaccination is strongly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes or asthma, and all patients aged 65 or over.

All specimens for processing at the hospital laboratory are collected daily (excluding weekends) from the practice. Please ensure that specimens for testing are handed into reception before 12 noon and that the container is clearly marked with the patient’s name and address.
As test results do take time to reach us we would be obliged if you did not telephone before you have been asked to do so. When ringing for results please telephone (0151 677 2327) after 2.00pm when results should have been received and seen by the doctor.
Enquiries about tests ordered by the hospital should be directed to the hospital and not the practice. In order to maintain confidentiality test results will only be given to the patient or to parents/guardians of minors if appropriate.
