NHS 111 Service
NHS Out of Hours Service provides medical care or advice when the surgery is closed. Fully trained advisers will assess your symptoms and direct you to the most appropriate local service. This can include an out-of-hours doctor, walk-in centre, urgent care centre, emergency dentist or late opening chemist. For life threatening emergencies, continue to call 999.
Call the service free on 111
Home visits may be requested only for patients who are housebound or too ill to come to the surgery. They may not be requested for the sake of convenience or lack of transport.
If you feel that a home visit is necessary on the same day, please try to ring the surgery before 10.00am, so that the doctors can plan their visits.
Most visits are done between 12 noon and 2.00pm. Please explain the exact nature of the problem to the receptionist to enable the doctor to see the most urgent cases first.
We have the appropriate facilities to help you here and will be able to offer you a better service if you attend at the practice for all your needs. Also, please remember that the doctor will be able to see approximately five other patients at the surgery in the time it takes to do one home visit.
Appointments can be booked online, in person or by telephoning 0151 677 2327 and using our automated system or by speaking to a receptionist. The appointment system operates for your convenience and also to aid the doctor. A separate appointment should be made for each patient.
'On the Day appointments are available for URGENT cases only' and will be passed to the duty doctor who will assess your request. Please provide as much information as possible when requesting an URGENT appointment, this helps to ensure that patients who genuinely need to see a doctor on the day are able to do so. Unfortunately, it may not be possible to see the doctor of your choice.
A full appointment system is in force and whenever possible you will be given an appointment to suit you with the doctor of your choice. However, we wish to emphasise that this is not always possible. To allow the smooth and efficient running of the practice, for the benefit of staff and patients, we would ask you to be understanding and not make unfair or unreasonable demands after you have been given a clear explanation.
All routine doctors appointments are for 10 minutes only. Please note that one appointment is for one problem and one patient. Longer appointments are available upon request and may be booked with a member of the reception team.
Please note that persistent failure to attend for appointments, or cancellation in good time, may result in removal from the practice list.
All patient services are located on the ground floor. The entrance doors are automatic to allow easy access into the building. There are specially designed toilet facilities on the ground floor. Reception staff are trained in evacuation procedures to assist the egress of disabled patients in the event of an emergency.
Wirral Extended Access Service
If you have a concern or query which you feel could be dealt with over the telephone rather than making an appointment, your doctor, nurse or any member of the Health Care Team will be happy to speak to you. Often the question that you wish to ask can be dealt with by a telephone conversation, as a “face to face” consultation is often only necessary when an examination needs to be performed.
If you feel that this service would be of help to you please ask the receptionist to arrange it by calling the surgery during opening hours.
You can book, cancel, check and change your own appointments any time night and day by using our automated booking system. Please note this service is for routine doctors appointments only, please speak to a receptionist to book all other appointments.
